Cincinnati Bell Customers received notice of FOX negotiations 12/26
From Cincinnati Bell via Email Message
Dear Valued Cincinnati Bell Customer,
Cincinnati Bell, along with 700+ mid-size and small cable operators, is part of a buying group currently in negotiation with FOX Corporation, to continue to offer their cable networks, including FOX News Channel, FOX Business, FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2.
The contract under negotiation is slated to expire December 31, 2019. At this time, our buying group is working hard to complete a fair and reasonable agreement with FOX so you, our customer, continue to receive these networks. At this time FOX is demanding new rates that are over 20% higher than previous rates. This is more than 10 times the current rate of inflation!
We feel these extremely high rate increases are simply not justified. As a Fioptics TV customer, we know you don’t want to pay more for TV service than you have to, and that is why our firm negotiations against large programmers like FOX is a top priority in order to fight for fair and reasonable rates; rather than rates that are gouging you, the consumer.
Our customers are NOT at risk of losing any of the previously mentioned networks prior to the December 31, 2019 deadline because FOX must contractually provide the services through this date. However, at the end of the contract term, FOX may choose to pull their services from our customers. We will continue to work hard during this final week of 2019 in order to avoid this. We will provide updates as more information becomes available and the deadline gets closer.
Sincerely,
Cincinnati Bell
