The Indy race car driver from Loveland now headed to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend

LOVELAND, OH (May 6, 2025) – Wow! Evagoras Papasavvas drove from the #3 starting position into 2nd place and held off all challengers in his INDY NXT racing debut in the Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday, May 4.

The 17-year-old race driver from Loveland, Ohio joins us fresh off an impressive start to his rookie INDY NXT racing season here on a Sports Special Evagoras Papasavvas Racing Report presented by Loveland Beacon Talks.
With very limited time in an INDY NXT car (less than 3 hours combined test, practice and qualifying) and limited experience on the Barber Motorsports Park course, Papasavvas made an impressive qualifying run with second fastest time behind the pole winner (and eventual race winner) Dennis Hauger earning him the #3 position on the starting grid. He moved up a spot to #2 early in the race when HMD Motorsports teammate Caio Collet had trouble with his throttle and dropped back in the field. Papasavvas held off challenges from Lochie Hughes and Myles Rowe the rest of the way to cross the finish line in the P2 position and earn a place on the podium with race winner Dennis Hauger and P3 finisher Lochie Hughes.

Next up for Evagoras Papasavvas is INDY NXT racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) Road Course for the Indianapolis Grand Prix races 1 and 2 this Friday and Saturday, May 9-10. During his USF2000 racing career 2021-2024, Papasavvas gained valuable experience at IMS with multiple test sessions; as well as practice, qualifying and races in the USF 2000 series there. The two Indy Grand Prix races this weekend will be the third and fourth round of the 2025 INDY NXT season but will be only the second and third INDY NXT Races for Papasavvas.
