Free gifts to all December Donors from Hoxworth

CINCINNATI, OH (Decmeber 16, 2021) – Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati needs blood donors more than ever this holiday season—so they’ve recruited some help from the crew at the North Pole to provide special gifts to those individuals who make the time to donate this month.
“Historically, the weeks around the holidays tend to be a hard time for blood banks across the country, and Hoxworth is not immune to that struggle. Flu season, holiday parties, and out-of-town winter vacations all impact our donor turnout, so we find that our shelves are woefully empty this time of year. Unfortunately, the need for blood doesn’t take a break, and patients in local hospitals will still need transfusions.” – Cara Nicolas, Hoxworth spokesperson
That’s why Hoxworth is trying to encourage blood donation this holiday season with a month of special gifts for those who donate at one of Hoxworth’s seven Neighborhood Donor Centers.
- Dec. 12 – 19: Limited-edition insulated holiday Tritan tumbler
- Dec. 20 – 27: UC Cotton Bowl Playoff Under Armour t-shirt
- Dec. 28 – 31: $10 e-gift card (delivered through email within 48 hours of donation)
Hoxworth Blood Center is the sole provider of blood products to more than 30 area hospitals. Every day 450 donors are needed to meet the demands of these hospitals.
“Donating blood is one of the best gifts a person can give—and unlike a lot of this year’s popular gifts, this one is completely free,” said Nicolas. “When you donate at Hoxworth, you are going to make a colossal impact on someone right here in our community, and maybe even save a life.”
