LOVELAND, OH (February 14, 2024) – It was a beautiful Saturday in the land of love.

Morning clouds gave way as a bright and welcome sun shined through in the afternoon. Love filled the air of a crisp February day. It was the second day of a three-day affair of love known as Hearts Afire in Loveland, Ohio.

The streets were bustling with families and couples enjoying a variety of activities offered for everyone. Bike Trail Books hosted a character story time for kids of all ages. Loveland Hardware and EADS Fence played into the theme of love with a puppy kissing booth.

Ice Sculptures – and watching the ice carvers is a crowd favorite each year (Photo by David Long – Cincy Photography)

The ice sculptures – a favorite each year – were as impressive as ever but melted away early due to the warmer temperatures brought on by that welcome (or maybe not so welcome) sunshine. Nobody was complaining. Some might say they were melting hearts all through the Hearts Afire loving activities.

“We spent most of our time on Heartbreak Row with Brian Maxson, owner of the Railway Barbershop. The activities included ax throwing, burning paper hearts, enjoying drinks from Paxton’s, and lots of karaoke. Singers of all ages entertained us, prompting cheers and sing-alongs from everyone.”

An Elvis impersonator contest featured six exceptional participants who sang and danced for a large crowd thoroughly enjoying every moment. Elvis appears to be another Loveland favorite.

Another crowd favorite is the Hearts Afire Valentine Pageant featuring boys and girls ages 1-4 years old. This was the 2nd Annual Valentine Pageant held at the Loveland Stage Company Theater (LSC) to benefit the stage company. Misty Clark, City of Loveland, the Hearts Afire Committe, the Loveland Valentine Ladies and the many volunteers helping deserve kudos for making this event a joy for all involved.

The winners for this “just for fun” pageant in the ages 1-2 category were:

  • Little Miss Valentine – Rory
  • Little Mr. Cupid – Beau

and in ages 3-4:

  • Miss Valentine – Dawson Joan who also won the hearts of all being named “Peoples Choice” winner as well.

“We ended the night with fireworks as Elvis serenaded the town with “Love Me Tender”. The City of Loveland and Event Planning committee did an excellent job. I’m already looking forward to next year.”
