LOVELAND, OH (October 20, 2020)  – The Loveland Tigers completely dominated the Withrow Tigers with a 7-0 scoring outburst for a first-round sectional win in a steady mist of rain Monday night at Loveland High School.

After a bit of a slow start, Loveland struck with a four goal barrage late in the first half to take a 4-0 lead into halftime over the outmatched Withrow team. Loveland assistant coach Brett Vancauwenbergh noted the results came from a hard effort.

“The boys came out hard and things started to get better,” said Vancauwenbergh. “They connected the passes, persistence, and got some goals. We got guys some playing time and it was a good game.”

Loveland scored early in the second half on a penalty kick to go ahead 5-0. They continued to pressure the Withrow defense and goalkeeper possessing the ball in the attacking zone nearly the entire second half. The home Tigers connected on passes and shots scoring two more goals in the half to record the 7-0 shutout victory.

The win advances the Loveland Tigers into second round sectional play this Thursday night, October 22. They’ll play host to the Mt. Healthy Owls (#32 seed).  What does that game look like for Loveland?

“We just got a come out and play the game and look forward to weeks coming up,” Vancouwenbergh said

Mt. Healthy is winless at 0-15 overall coming into the match with Loveland Thursday night. A win for the Tigers would add to their season win total of 11 and give them a 12-2-3 overall record for the fall.

With a win, Loveland would also advance to the next round of play scheduled for Monday, October 26, at Sycamore H.S.
