Will meet briefly to officially cancel scheduled meeting
NEWS RELEASE: Susanne Quigley, Chief Information Officer, Loveland Schools
LOVELAND, OH, Wednesday, March 18, 2020, 8:59 p.m. – The Loveland Board of Education will meet at its regularly scheduled business meeting on Thursday, March 19, to vote on a resolution to cancel the meeting.
This cancellation is due to increasing concerns around the spread of COVID-19 as communicated by Governor DeWine at a press conference on Wednesday and increased safety measures, and while awaiting guidelines on electronic meeting allowances from the State Attorney General’s office.
“With the additional measures taken by the governor today to combat the spread of the virus, we have decided to cancel our physical meeting for tomorrow,” said Board of Education President Dr. Kathryn Lorenz. “Like all other school districts in the state, we are awaiting further guidance from the State Attorney General and the Governor on allowances for videoconferencing and electronic meeting alternatives during these unprecedented times that satisfy our responsibilities to open and transparent public meetings.”
As of 2 o’clock on Wednesday, there are 88 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Ohio, an increase of 21 since Tuesday. Gov. DeWine ordered the closure of 181 Bureau of Motor Vehicle deputy registrar locations in the state at the end of business on Wednesday. He also ordered the closure of all barbershops, hair dressers, nail salons and tattoo parlors. Business owners across Ohio are now asked to check the temperature of all employees before they enter the workplace. If an employee is sick or runs a temperature, they should be sent home.
