Glamorous Skies
Pan American Airways incorporated in 1927 on this day. Pan Am was the primary US airline serving foreign destinations until its collapse in 1991.
Pan Am traces its roots to serving the Caribbean, Central and South America from US gateways cities.
Pan Am mostly utilized flying boats or Clippers in its early days. It rapidly grew during the glamour days of air travel, reaching its peak just before the oil crisis of 1973.
