By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)
LOVELAND, OH (September 15, 2025) – In today’s edition of Fun with Maps, we look back at a significant invasion effort by Germany during WWII.
Battle of Britain
Second World War. It was imperative for Germany to invade Britain. The first portion was to soften the enemy from July to October, 1940. The mid-point of the bombardment was on September 15, 1940. London, Birmingham, Leeds and other cities.
- The British evacuated children and women to the countryside.
- The British launched their own planes to fight the German aircraft.
- The British used the newly developed radar technology to find the Germans in the sky.
The Germans eventually gave up and used their resources to invade Russia. It was a bad call for them.
