Cowherd was the top in Ohio for both Vault and Bar competitions during the state meet April 8.

The sport of gymnastics has been a huge part of my life for over 12 years,” said IHHS State Champion Raelyn Cowherd. “It has taught me the value of discipline, hard work, and commitment. Although, I know the feeling of standing on top of the podium, the process and grind of getting there is what motivates me.”

“We are incredibly proud of Raelyn for this outstanding achievement,” said Indian Hill Athletic Director Brian Phelps. “Raelyn is both an amazing student-athlete and scholar. We are excited to see all her bright future holds.”

Cowherd plans to attend The University of Cincinnati in the fall where she will continue competitive gymnastics.

“I will be forever grateful for my coaches, teammates, and my gym – Cincinnati Gymnastics, for helping shape me into the person I am today!” said Cowherd. “I am also thankful for my parents who have supported me every step of the way. This chapter may be ending, but I look forward to continuing to compete in gymnastics as a UC Bearcat!”

The Indian Hill Board of Education will recognize Cowherd’s achievements during the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. on May 17 in the Indian Hill High School Auditorium.

XCEL is an alternative USA Gymnastics competitive program offering individual flexibility to coaches and gymnasts. The goal of XCEL is to provide gymnasts of varying abilities and commitment levels the opportunity for a rewarding gymnastics experience.
