LOVELAND, OH (January 14, 2025) – In today’s edition of Fun with Maps we observe a historic milestone in the history of the NFL football all-star game.
PRO BOWL
The long and winding history of professional football’s all-star game had a milestone on January 14, 1950. On that day, the all-star game resumed after hiatus because of World War II – as the Pro Bowl.
In the 1950 Pro Bowl the American Conference was victorious over the National Conference 28-27. It was a true all-star game as were the ones following. From 1938 to 1942 the league champion played against an all-star team, with the league champion winning 4 of the 5 games.
The venue for the Pro Bowl remained the LA Memorial Coliseum from 1950 to 1969. This stadium was completed in 1923 and held up quite well to “Father time”. After 1969 several sites were used, but Aloha Stadium was the annual venue from 1979 to 2013, with one exception.
