Kennedy, Wright, and Lapensee shared a small portion of what they’ll be talking about. Here is a sneak peek at what your local community leaders will be talking about in their detailed State of the Region Address this Thursday:

From Loveland City Manager David Kennedy  – His presentation focuses first on three separate areas of housing development, City Services, and the water system.

  • Housing development includes discussion of plans for the “Blossom Hill” development of 3 and 4 story townhomes. Loveland has officially been named site for the 2021 Homearama “Chimney Ridge” development of single family homes.
  • Loveland City Services including the Loveland Police Department and Loveland-Symmes Fire Department are in the spotlight with plans for Safety Center Renovations which will include improvements to the locker area, office area, laundry area, living quarters and workstation. Additionally, preparation for future growth of the safety center is underway.

  • The Water System is a focus for the coming year with 1 treatment plant, 3 each of wells, ground level storage tanks, and booster pump stations as well as 4 elevated storage tanks to handle daily storage capacity of 5,000,000 gallons over approximately 76 miles of water main distribution piping. Distribution includes 2 emergency water connections with Clermont Count and City of Cincinnati.

From Miami Township Administrator Jeffrey Wright- comes a focus on the impact of increased housing starts, the effects of COVID, and more budget for road paving.

  • The number of new housing starts exceeded their estimates from one year ago. In fact, Miami Township saw an increase from 121 new homes in 2019 to 229 new single family homes in 2020. Of those, approximately 10% exceeded a sale price of $500,000, which is a significant investment. New rooftops typically make it easier to attract new restaurants and retailers, which Miami Townships anticipates seeing in 2021.
  • We know that the COVID pandemic has impacted Miami Township residents and we know that many businesses have also had different impacts to their operations and customers. However, in contrast to the Great Recession of 2009-2011, the township has not seen a drop in property values or an increase in foreclosures. The Clermont County Auditor conducted the update of the property valuation and we saw an increase of $197 million in total property valuation in Miami Township. This is an increase of 5.9% over the prior year’s valuation.
  • Miami Township is very pleased to have in our budget another record year for repaving Township streets. We will repave 15 miles of Township streets out of the 157 miles we are responsible for and we will also replace another approximately 1 mile of curb and gutters.

From Symmes Township Administrator Kimberly Lapensee – comes a list of her top three items for Symmes Township this year including sidewalks, historic renovation, and parks improvement.

  • Sidewalks on Union Cemetery Road from Antietam to Meade (near Lebanon Road),
  • Renovation of the Meade House at Meade Historic Preserve to make it an event center,
  • Making improvements to our parks (Seven Gables – replace play structure and walking trail repairs)(add restroom to Royal Field on Union Cemetery)(turn area next to Duke Energy’s main powerlines on Montgomery at Blong into a nature trail).
