Information for the May primary and the key November election day

LOVELAND, OH (April 9, 2026) – Early voting is underway and the May Primary is less than a month away with November election day approaching fast. Here is updated information Deb Giehl thinks may be helpful for voters to make an informed choice on candidates and issues locally and statewide.

Within 24 hours my last column, more very pertinent information came to light and I feel compelled to share it with you.  Although this additional communication to you is not immediately essential if don’t plan to vote early (early voting opened Tuesday, April 7th here in Ohio), it is still worth knowing not only for May 5th election but, MORE IMPORTANTLY, for the November 3rd Gubernatorial General election.  I just did not want to wait to send it because there is a lot here to digest.

I have one question … what is wrong with the Republican Party?  Why don’t we CONSISTENTLY exercise our Constitutional right to vote in EVERY possible election?  According to the Faith in Action publication that I receive from the Faith & Freedom Coalition, “the frightening truth is that Republicans have been performing miserably in recent off-year and special elections – 8% worse than they did in 2024.  To make matters worse, Democrat-run states have been redrawing Congressional district maps that, currently, would award Democrats 9 additional seats over what they have now.”

Historically the White House almost always loses a large number of seats in the mid-term elections?  Don’t be complacent/over-confident because President Trump is currently in office. “It will be a MASSIVE task for Republicans to hold the House on November 3rd.”  Democrats can win back control of the House and Senate by flipping just 3 seats and 4 seats, respectively.  If THAT doesn’t scare you and make you want to vote, I don’t know what would!  A perfect example is the US Senate race between Jon Husted and Sherrod Brown.  Recall how much Brown has consistently worked against the American people. On a personal note: during my second visit to Washington D.C. with the Cincinnati 912 Project (now defunct – think Glenn Beck) to fight the UNAFFORDABLE Obamacare, we had scheduled an appointment with Brown’s office to meet with him to discuss our concerns about that disgusting medical insurance plan. Thirty (30) of us went to see him, he was a NO SHOW!  We held a sit-in for a couple hours waiting for the coward to show up for the meeting.  Of course, that never happened. Take this to heart: he was voted out of office for excellent reasons and should NOT be allowed to return.

As an additional aside, I was forced to use Obamacare for about 3 years until it was so cost-prohibitive, I elected to be insured with Christian Healthcare Ministries.  I wish I would have made that decision 3 years earlier. It would have saved me a LOT of money.  If you, or anyone you know, needs affordable insurance and would like more information about that, just ask me.

Let’s talk election integrity. Really, how can the debate on voter ID and the SAVE America Act even be valid and taken seriously?  The Democrats insist having to show a picture ID to vote restricts many black and brown voters and that it’s unfair and racist. How so?  Please explain it to me.  Even if one doesn’t have a driver’s license, anyone can receive a state-issued picture ID for a nominal fee (I think it’s $10) Isn’t that close to what a pack of cigarettes cost these days?  Bottom line: if ANY LEGAL CITIZEN wants to vote, they would be able to vote – with a VALID photo ID.  It’s not rocket science!  Side note: If you notice your poll workers now checking the BACK of your driver’s license, we are just confirming you are a US citizen.

We MUST get out and vote!  Just remember, seats were lost in 2010 & 2014 under Obama, in 2018 under Trump, and in 2022 under Biden.  We MUST get out and vote!  We MUST encourage our fellow Patriot friends, family members and neighbors to get out and vote!  If the Democrats take control of the House and Senate, we all know what will happen! Impeachment proceedings for Trump will begin and it will be a repeat of his first term ie: the Russian collusion, non-stop law-fare and investigations, etc.  This is unacceptable. Not to mention the possible loss of our second amendment rights.  Don’t be mistaken … YOUR vote can and WILL make a difference – ESPECIALLY on November 3rd!

Let’s talk about Democrats gaining control and trying to strip our 2nd Amendment rights.  Wednesday, April 8th, Democrat-run Rhode Island lawmakers lined up the most aggressive gun-control package the state has ever seen?  The House Judiciary Committee plans to push through a stack of 18 gun bills that are a full-scale attack on ordinary gun owners, NOT violent gun-toting criminals.  Four examples are:  H7035 – Gun rationing; H8071 – Require a background check just to buy ammunition; H8073 – Turns last year’s semi-auto sale / transfer ban into a full-blown possession ban with penalties up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if you don’t surrender your guns; and H8075 – Forces every gun owner to carry at least $1,000,000 in liability insurance, making your rights to expensive to exercise.  I know, I get it, this is Rhode Island.  But who’s to say if we don’t continue to exercise our right to vote and keep the radical, gun-hating leftists out of control, the same wouldn’t happen here in Ohio? (EDITOR’S NOTE: All bills heard Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in Rhode Island were held by the committee for further study, as is standard procedure for initial legislative hearings.)

Here’s a website I received from one of my “followers”.  (https://www.numbersusa.com/action-board) I checked it out and absolutely love it!  You can create an account but, the good news is, you don’t have to have an account to message Congress members regarding various included subjects.  All you have to do is click on the subject and enter your Representative/Senator contact information to send it directly to them. In addition, you can click on any state in the US and view its overall grade. (Ohio is a C – yuck – who said we were a RED state?!) You can also click on a legislator name to view their personal grade card.  It’s very interesting. I encourage you to check it out. I also previously shared in my last column (www.iVoterGuide.com). They just sent out their candidate information for the May 5th Primary election.  All you have to do is enter your address and information on candidates that will appear on YOUR ballot will be easily available to you. This is very helpful information to help you make informed voting decisions.  They’ve done the major research for you. I highly trust them.

More on data centers coming to Ohio – I received an article (https://www.theohioregister.com/one-state-under-wexner/) that could easily be tethered to the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR3P9jxAgfY) embedded in my last column in reference to data centers coming to Ohio – especially around the New Albany area.  The information in this article is extremely enlightening.  If you know anyone who lives in the New Albany area, this article may be even more interesting to them!  WARNING: if anyone comes to your property – no matter WHERE you live in Ohio – and they offer you more than market value for your land. BEWARE!  Vivek Ramaswamy (VR) is mentioned numerous times.
