CINCINNATI, OH (February 21, 2025) – The Archbishop Moeller High School will induct six new members into their athletic Hall of Fame during induction ceremonies to be held May 18, 2025.

Here are the six new Hall of Fame inductees:

 John Beringer ‘09 played golf during his time at Moeller. He was a two-time All-GCL First Team, GCGCA First Team, and All-City. John finished 3rd in the 2008 state tournament and was on the 2008 All-State First Team. He was a member of the 2007 state runner-up team and had the second lowest average on the team of 76.3. John continued his collegiate career at Indiana University.

Tim Held – Moeller’s varsity head baseball coach. This is his 18th season in that role and his 29th year at Moeller as a teacher and coach. Prior to being named head coach after the 2007 season, Held was an assistant baseball coach at Moeller for eleven years with the last six on the varsity level. His overall record as head coach is 406-86 for a remarkable winning percentage of 83%. Three times his teams have won 30 or more games. Held has coached teams who have won many championships including 5 state titles, 7 state poll championships, 8 regional titles, 12 district titles, 8 city titles, and 12 GCL titles. His teams have finished the season nationally ranked 8 times. During his time as head coach, many of his players have gone on to play at the collegiate level, covering every major collegiate conference. In addition, 19 of his former players have been drafted by the major leagues with 3 of those players making it to the major leagues.

Held has received many awards and honors over his coaching career, including GCL Coach of the Year 11 times, City Coach of the Year 5 times, Defiance Alumni Coach of the Year 7 times, Cincinnati Reds/MSA Sport Coach of the Year 2 times, and the 2015 NFHS Coach of the Year for the state of Ohio. He was also named Region 4 Coach of the Year by the ABCA and NHSBCA in 2023. Held was the head coach for the East Team in the 2015 Perfect Game and was an assistant coach for the East Team in the 2017 game held in San Diego, CA. In addition to coaching, Held is a member of the Mathematics Department and works in the Admissions Office.

Sam Hubbard ‘14 played football and lacrosse during his time at Moeller. He was a football team captain in his senior year, All-GCL and All-City First Team in both his junior and senior years and was named GCL-Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. His impressive lacrosse stats include being named First Team All-Midwest in 2012 and 2013, Second Team All-Ohio in 2012 and 2013, and was selected as an All-American in 2013. 

Hubbard was offered an athletic scholarship for lacrosse at the University of Notre Dame but chose to continue his collegiate football career at The Ohio State University, where he played football from 2014-2017. He was a starter in 2016 and 2017, earning Second Team All-Big 10 in 2017. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018 and has played as a defensive end starter since 2018 including key contributions to the Bengals 2022 Super Bowl team .

Craig Lindsey has been a trainer at Moeller for decades, celebrating 30 years this academic year. He earned his B.A. in Physical Education & Health from Berea College in 1992 and completed the athletic training curriculum from Wright State University in 1995. Lindsey has maintained the safety and health of the student athletes, including saving the life of a lacrosse player during a game. He has great interaction with the players and coaches. In addition to his duties at Moeller, Lindsey serves as the Lead Athletic Trainer for Beacon Orthopedics, assisting Beacon’s Management Team with overseeing their Sports Medicine Outreach Program, which provides more than 30 area high school and club sport organizations with certified athletic trainers. In 2021, he was the recipient of The Bill Walker Memorial Award by the Greater Cincinnati Athletic Trainers Association, which honors someone who exhibits high moral character, has contributed to the athletic training community, serves as a positive role model for others, and actively promotes athletic training. In 2024, Lindsey was honored by the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association with the Ohio Athletic Trainer of the Year award. This distinguished honor spotlights individuals who exemplify outstanding leadership, compassion, and excellence in athletic training.

Zach Logue ‘14 played baseball at Moeller. He was named Baseball Man of Moeller in 2014, All-GCL 2013 and 2014, All-City 2013 and 2014, All-State 2014, and Second Team All-American. Logue was eighth in career pitching 16-2, sixth in ERA 1.16, and was part of the 2013 State Champion team. He was the leading pitcher in 2013 and 2014 with 108 innings, 125 strikeouts, and just 41 walks. Logue was also a hitter, batting .409 in his 2-year varsity career. He was a GCL Champion 2 times, sectional champion four times, district and state qualifier four times, and district champion.

Karl Woods ‘77 was part of the football team and track and field team during his time at Moeller. He was a 2-year starter at OLB on 2 league, city, state, and national championship teams. Woods was a 3-year high jumper in track and field. He played football at the University of Cincinnati.

In addition to the Hall of Fame inductees, three people will be recognized with a service award, for going above and beyond in supporting Moeller Athletics.

Matt Qualters ’13 – The Habegger Student Service Award, first awarded in 2009, this award is dedicated to those Moeller students who have given outstanding service to Moeller High School Athletics and their fellow classmates, as shown by the spirit of Michael Habegger ’89, who served as a student manager.

Dr. Brian Adams, assistant cross-country coach – The Brother Choquette Award, first awarded in 2017, this award recognizes an assistant coach who has made a significant contribution to their sport. This year’s recipient, Dr. Brian Adams has been an assistant at Moeller for 25+ years. He currently serves at the Drs. Mutasim, Gloster, Jr., & Claassen Endowed as Chair and Professor of Dermatology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine since 2013. Dr. Adams is also the Chief of Dermatology at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, since 1999. A lifelong runner, he ran at Columbia High School in upstate New York, where he graduated as valedictorian, and then at Yale College. Dr. Adams continued his education at Yale Medical School and attained his master’s in public health from Harvard University.

Jai Schiavone -The Whitey Campbell Marianist Service Award, first awarded in 2024, this award honors individuals who dedicated their time and talent over an extended period of time to support Moeller’s Athletic Department and its student athletes. This year’s recipient Jai Schiavone has helped with statistics since 2003. Working with both football and basketball, Schiavone has touched the lives of countless student athletes and has made it easier for Moeller coaches to do their jobs.
