LOVELAND, OH (January 20, 2021) – Loveland Police Officer Tim Wilmes is ready to find his next purpose in life after 31 years serving his home community of Loveland as a peace officer.

The official last day for Officer Wilmes is February 5, 2021. He grew up here in Loveland and wanted to be a police officer since he was a very young boy. Serving in that role in his hometown of Loveland for 31 years has been icing on the cake for him.

The decision to retire was no easy one for the man who realizes the rare opportunity he enjoyed doing what he loved in the community he loves and has called home all his life.

Officer Wilmes sat down for a sort of press conference (The thing he least likes to do by his own admission) recently to announce his retirement officially and to share a little of his story serving Loveland. Those stories, in his own words, will follow in the days to come here on Loveland Beacon. For now, we congratulate him on his retitrment and thank him for his service to our Loveland Community.

“A good friend told me you have to have a purpose in retirement,” said Wilmes. “I’m looking for a purpose. but I do want to be bored for a little while; maybe travel in the future.”

The City of Loveland plans to honor Officer Tim Wilmes following his February 5, retirement during the February 9, Loveland City Council meeting at 7 p.m. in City Hall.
