Loveland Indy Car driver goes flag-to-flag on the streets of Toronto for the win

LOVELAND, OH (July 23, 2024) – For the second time in the last three races, Evagoras Papasavvas led all the way in a green flag to checkered flag race into victory lane in the Streets of Toronto race Sunday, July 21st.

Evagoras Papasavvas shares the story of his race victory North of the Border in Toronto, Ontario, Canada here on Loveland Beacon Talks: Sports Special.

It was the second race of a racing weekend double-header for USF-2000 Indy Car racers Sunday with Evagoras Papasavvas starting from the #2 position side-by-side with his Jay Howard Driver Development teammate Liam McNeilly sitting on the pole position. The strategy for Papasavvas was to get a “good clean start” and pass his teammate to take the early lead. He did just that and then led the rest of the 20 car field all the way to victory lane in the 20-lap race on the Streets of Toronto. 

The race win keeps Evagoras right in the heat of the race for the 2024 USF-2000 Driver Championship which will be decided in the final three-race weekend in Portland, OR at the Portland International Speedway in late August. For now, the 16 year-old driver from Loveland, Ohio gets a month-long break from racing to be like any teenage boy on summer vacation.
