FUN WITH MAPS – ISSUE 2023-158 DAILY FEATURE:

By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)

LOVELAND, OH (October 5, 2023) –Today’s edition of Fun with Maps celebrates the history of an iconic spy film series.

No problem, man

Ian Fleming’s James Bond made his film debut on this day in 1962.

007 was investigating the disappearance of a fellow British spy in Jamaica.  Bond finally did away with his nemesis, Dr. No, who also carries the name of the movie.  Dr. No was trying to interfere with US space rocket launches.  Bad boy.

The core plot is the same in this and following films: an evil enterprise or person must be stopped.  Bond saves the day while meeting a beautiful lady.

We have watched the same core story in 25 movies and loved it (per box office sales).

Which is your favorite Bond movie and Bond actor? (Chuck of Loveland Beacon says: Goldfinger and Sean Connery!)

Jamaica.  No problem.  This map of the Caribbean island is by fellow Brit, Tallis, from 1850.
