City Presents the Love and Flowers Contest: Summer 2021:
Residents encouraged to plant Red Whopper Begonia to earn cash prizes.

LOVELAND, OH (May 3, 2021) – The City of Loveland has launched the “Love and Flower Contest 2021” in an effort to inspire residents to enhance the appearance of their home landscape by planting Red Whopper Begonia’s – the offical flower of the city.

“This contest is about showing our hometown some love by decorating with our official city flower,” said Erin Kholodovsky, Loveland Beautification Committee member. “All residents are encouraged to display their city pride and participate in this fun contest.”
The Red Whopper Begonia was named the official flower of the city for 2021. . Residents are encouraged to plant the flower in an engaging or unique way in their yards or within a porch display. If you or a neighbor have planted an award-worthy display, submit your nomination. Cash prizes (and bragging rights) will be awarded!
May 31 – June 27 : You may nominate yourself, a neighbor, or both. The contest is not open to businesses. All nominated displays must be within Loveland City limits and be visible from the street/sidewalk. Nominations must include a photo and street address. You can submit your nomination(s) at lovelandoh.gov.
June 30 – July 4: Nominations will be uploaded to a Facebook Group called City of Loveland: Love & Flowers Contest. The public will be asked to vote for their favorites. The top 10 displays will be compiled from the public voting, and the final winners will be selected by the Beautification Committee and contest sponsor.
July 12: The winners will be announced!
1st Place: This award recognizes the most creative and extensive use of the city flower in decorating your yard or porch. This award includes a cash prize of $150 and photo publication of the winning display.
Honorable Mentions: Four runner-up prizes of $75 each will be awarded.
Sponsor’s Choice: This award is the personal selection of the Love and Flowers’
Contest Sponsor. It is open to all nominations and may or may not include the first place and/or runners-up. Recipient of this award will receive a $50 cash prize.
