Fun with Maps ISSUE 2025-170 – A REWIND

LOVELAND, OH (October 16, 2025) – In today’s edition of Fun with Maps, we REWIND to October 16, 2023 for some more TV magic with 100 years of iconic creative children’s entertainment in a “make-believe” land of fun. (NOTE: Fresh new FwM returns Monday, October 20, 2025) 

Magic

Two brothers founded one of the most influential enterprises, ultimately targeting children’s entertainment, on October 16, 1923, one hundred years ago.   They bring magic.

Most people would recognize one of the brothers, but less so Roy.  Roy was involved mostly on the business side, holding the CEO position for 37 years, until 1966.

The other brother was the creative guy and the public face of the company.

He is Walt Disney.

Roy and Walt founded Disney Brothers Studio in 1923, which ultimately became The Walt Disney Company.

Not bad from two boys from Chicago.

The 1957 issue of Disneyland’s gate map is presented here.  The gates first opened in 1955.
