Kitty Hawk
North Carolina became the 12th state on November 21, 1789, after ratifying the US Constitution.
Aside from the first manned flight by the Wright Brothers it is famous for:
- Founding NASCAR
- The Corolla wild horses – from sinking Spanish ships in the Outer Banks in the 1600s
- Biltmore House, an over-the-top estate by Vanderbilt
- Fort Bragg, the US Army Special Operations Command
- Home to Krispy Kreme
- Home to High Point University, the cleanest campus around.
Colton created this map of North Carolina in 1855.
