FUN WITH MAPS – ISSUE 2022-010 DAILY FEATURE:

By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)

LOVELAND, OH (January 17, 2022) – In Issue 2022-010 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we learn about the great one who “stung like a bee”.

HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY TO THE GREATEST

Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. was born 80 years ago, on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. Today everyone knows him simply as Ali – Muhammad Ali – thought by many to be the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time.

Clay made his amateur boxing debut at age 12, won a gold medal in the 1960 Olympics and turned pro shortly after that. He was as much an entertainer as a boxer, which is reflected in the accolades of his fights like “The Fight of the Century” and “The Thrilla in Manilla”, both with Joe Frazier as his opponent.

After retiring from boxing, he became a philanthropist and humanitarian, lauded as much for his charitable works as his athletic performances.
