LOVELAND, OHIO (January 12, 2024) — The City of Loveland released multiple announcements this week for upcoming events in 2024.

First among them will be the 3rd Annual Hearts Afire Weekend. Growing in popularity, the event celebrates Valentine’s Day in the Land of Love. Sparks will fly February 9-11 in Loveland, the “Sweetheart of Ohio,” according to the announcement from the city.

The celebration is scheduled for the weekend before Valentine’s Day with most activities taking place Saturday, February 10th.  If you’ve been there in the first two years, you’ll be happy to know the live ice carving will return along with other favorites. Carriage rides, fire twirlers outdoor decorations, a valentine pageant, fireworks, and the popular ice sculpture walking tour are among the favorites returning for 2024.

“What’s sweeter than celebrating all things love in Loveland? We invite everyone to be part of this new holiday tradition,” –  Kathy Bailey, Mayor

The City’s Historic Downtown local businesses will help those sparks fly with shopping and dining specials along with unique activities and open houses.

Here’s a look at some of the weekend fun planned:

  • “Galentine” night
  • Valentine-themed variety show
  • Chasing Cupid 5K
  • Dance lessons
  • Taylor Swift-themed brunch

The city also announced a “Call to Bands” as they seek to fill the Loveland City outdoor concert series schedule for May-September at Nisbet Park – NOTE: that will include the annual Independence Day Celebration for July 4th.

Here’s the text from the Call to Bands:

Interested performers are encouraged to fill out an online form to share their bio, availability, and rates with the city. The form may be accessed at through Feb. 15, 2024.

The city will make its selections for the 2024 season by early spring.

In 2023, more than 230 applications were received. Since 2022, the city has been inviting musicians to apply for consideration.

“The applications give us a pool to book acts across genres, and we look forward to bringing unique performers to the city again this year,” said Misty Clark, Assistant to the City Manager.

MORE on Hearts Afire from the City of Loveland:

In the spirit of love, the event will give back to the community. The city is partnering with the Loveland Stage Company, which is raising money to replace its theater’s HVAC system. On Feb. 9 and 10, the theater will host Crushin It, a valentine-themed variety show. All proceeds will go toward the HVAC fundraiser.

Additionally, the city is hosting a Hearts Afire Valentine Pageant at the Loveland Stage Company on Feb. 10 for children ages 1-4. This is a fun pageant that will be judged by the Loveland Valentine Ladies, a local group of women known for their community service. Again, all proceeds will go to the theater.

All activity details, schedules, and maps will be posted at

If your business is interested in participating, please contact Krista Rose at Loveland City Hall by phone:  (513) 683-0150.
