“Frankly My Dear, I Don’t Give a Damn” was a line delivered by the character Rhett Butler which upset many people at the time.  It was thought to be virtually obscene – the last word in the quote. How the times change.

That famous line comes from the award-winning classic film  “Gone with the Wind” which premiered 81 years ago today.  It went on to win best picture and numerous other Oscar awards.

Another well-known movie from the same year, 1939, is The Wizard of Oz.

Which of the two movies do you enjoy more?

Here is a whimsical pictorial map of Georgia, where Gone with the Wind takes place.  The map is by Ruth Taylor White and it was issued in 1938.
