Jarvis Global Investments partners with Tigers Inc. and Loveland Spirit Club for 2nd Annual fundraiser for Food Pantry

LOVELAND, OH (December 22, 2022) – He drained the trey means filling the shelves at Loveland InterFaith Effort (LIFE) Food Pantry this high school basketball season.

For those of you not up to speed on some common basketball lingo: I’ll bet you are familiar with terms like round ball, shooting some hoops, hardwoods, slam-dunk and probably alley-oop, but in case you don’t know it, another common term used when a player successfully makes a 3-point shot is “He drained the trey!”  Okay, lesson complete. One year ago, Jarvis Global Investments (JGI), Tigers Incorporated and Loveland Spirit Club organized the inaugural “3’s For LIFE” fundraising campaign. It’s back! Leading the way for the 2nd Annual 3’s For LIFE fundraising campaign are LHS seniors Elly Steinbrunner and Brady Steiner.

“Three’s For LIFE is a fundraiser put on by Tigers Inc., Loveland Spirit Club and Mr. Jarvis of Jarvis Global Investments,” said Elly Steinbrunner, LHS senior and member of Tigers Inc. “The fundraiser happens during all of the home girls and boys varsity basketball games. Every 3-point shot the boys and girls make at all home games Mr. Jarvis is donating 12 canned goods to the Loveland LIFE Food Pantry.”

Yes, Tigers Incorporated, Loveland Spirit Club, and Jarvis Global Investments have launched the second annual “3’s For LIFE” Fundraiser. This basketball season the creative community outreach program will happen at all LHS home games from now thru February 2nd.  Steinbrunner explained JGI will again donate twelve canned goods to the LIFE Food Pantry for every three-point shot made at Loveland High School’s boys and girls home basketball games. All proceeds benefit the Loveland LIFE Food Pantry.  The net result one year ago was the donation of some 1,500 canned goods to LIFE Food Pantry at the end of the 2021/22 Loveland High School boys and girls basketball season. Steiner and Steinbrunner have raised the goal for this season.

“Last year the goal was 1,500 cans, this year we upped our goal to 2,000 cans,” Steinbrunner said. “We don’t really believe 3-pointers alone will help us to reach that goal. So we’ve done a lot this year to boost the amount of cans.”

The two seniors were able to secure a $500 donation from the Loveland Meijer store which will go directly to the LIFE Food Pantry.

“They were really great to work with,” said Steinbrunner. “I’m pretty sure they responded to us in about six hours.”

As members of Tigers Inc., a business leadership class at LHS, both Elly and Brady have the opportunity to leave the classroom during the school day and go out into the community to meet with business owners. Together they decided to use that opportunity to approach Meijer about helping with the 3’s For LIFE campaign.

“We decided the best way to go about it was to show up in person at the Meijer location,” Steinbrunner explained.

One day they took a class period to go out to Meijer. They went to the community service desk, explained why they were there (to ask for a donation) explained what the fundraiser is and asked to see a manager.

“They gave us the most simple instructions,” said Steinbrunner. “It was so easy. They gave us a piece of paper to fill out. We took it back to Tigers Inc. with us, got all our information put together.”

Brady dropped off the form at Meijer after school. Meijer sent an email within six hours approving a $500 donation for the campaign. The leadership team of Steiner and Steinbrunner didn’t stop there. Next they secured an assist from Loveland Biggby Coffee to place canned good collection boxes at their 732 Middleton Way location just off Branch Hill-Guinea Pike. Elly shared a little more about how that happened. Turns out she’s employed at the Biggby Coffee location and thought it would be a good opportunity to reach out to her bosses, the owners Amy and Dustin Hepburn. They regularly help out with local causes fundraisers.

“They have toy drives for kids, clothing drives, so I really felt like Amy and Dustin would be very willing to help out with this,” she said. “They were. They were very excited about it.”

And Amy told Elly as long as she had everything under control she would gladly allow them to have donation boxes there.

“We have a donation box set up at the Loveland Biggby location for customers to bring in canned goods to donate,” said Steinbrunner. “Last Saturday, December 17, we had a promo at Biggby Coffee stores so if a customer brought in two canned goods they received a Biggby Coffee coupon and if they brought in 10, they got a free drink.”

Elly and Brady are serious about taking this 3’s For Life beyond the length of the court. They’ve already reached about 550 cans toward their goal of 2,000 cans for the basketball season. Steinbrunner says that number includes cans donated by Art Jarvis and Jarvis Global Investments for 3-pointers and other donations brought in by the community. At the time of this writing, a combined total of 14 more boys and girls home basketball games remain for the LHS Tigers and the 3’s For LIFE campaign. Like I said though, they are going beyond the three-point line. She and Brady did a social media donation game and raised slightly over $450 from the community.

“It was really great,” Steinbrunner said. “We’re going to use all of that to go purchase even more cans for the LIFE Food Pantry. We’re hoping to actually extend our goal.”

Let’s recap for a minute. This all begins with the partnership of Jarvis Global Investments with Tigers Inc. and Loveland Spirit Club creating the 3’s For LIFE to benefit Loveland LIFE Food Pantry. Jarvis Global Investments donates 12 canned good items for every 3-point basket scored by Loveland High School girls and boys varsity basketball at any home game from now through the end of the current high school basketball season. Elly Steinbrunner and her partner in leading the charge Brady Steiner have joined the effort this year after having seen the success of the inaugural 3’s For LIFE fundraiser last season. More than that, the two have made a conscious effort to step up the game for Loveland LIFE Food Pantry.

“I’ve been very inspired by the community during this fundraiser,” said Steinbrunner, who first thought mostly Jarvis Global Investments would be the biggest contributor to the cause. “He will, but I just really love seeing the community try to help us out to get even more cans for us. The goal isn’t going to be met without support from throughout the community. It really does mean a lot to me that people are helping us out.”

They will be holding a school-wide canned good drive the first week of February which will be the last week of the fundraiser. Tigers Inc. and Loveland Spirit Club hope to bring in a lot more cans during that canned food drive. Steinbrunner wants the community to know how important LIFE Food Pantry is to the community citing numbers of 799, or more, residents being served by the pantry.

“I think it really important for the community to know that and to know the Loveland LIFE Food Pantry is a resource for them if they are struggling,” Steinbrunner said. “There is a very big need in Loveland  and from the LIFE Food Pantry. It just means so much with people helping out with the fundraiser and helping the LIFE Food Pantry.”
