Donors who roll up a sleeve at one of Hoxworth’s seven Neighborhood Donor Centers Monday, July 26 through Wednesday, July 28 will receive a voucher redeemable for two Cincinnati Reds tickets.
Blood donors are needed every day and now more than ever in the midst of a national blood shortage according to Cara Nicolas, spokesperson for Hoxworth Blood Center.
“Hoxworth Blood Center has recently seen a dip in the number of donors coming out to give, and we’re not the only blood bank with that problem,” said Nicolas. “Blood shortages have been widespread across the U.S. since Memorial Day, so we’re hoping that offering a fun night at a Cincinnati Reds game will encourage eligible individuals to schedule a donation.”
Hoxworth needs to collect 400 units of blood and 50 units of platelets every day to meet demand of area hospitals.
Hoxworth operates seven Neighborhood Donor Centers in the Tri-State area. Appointments are highly encouraged. Masks are no longer required by donors.
