Loveland Tigers Wrestling head coach Chris Switzer has been at Loveland Schools 22 years – 18 of those has head coach. He has compiled a lifetime 206-73 Dual record in his time as wrestling coach. He is assisted for the upcoming season by assistant coaches: Dale Lawrence, Rafael Penso, Charlie Heyob, Seth Brennock and volunteer assistant Jake Cotsonas.

The team is coming off a 2019/2020 season which saw them go 14-6 in Duals. They were good enough for a 2nd place standing in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC). The Tiger grapplers advanced to the regional quarter-finals in State Duals DI Southwest Ohio. They had 6 district qualifiers, 2 district placers and 1 state qualifier.

While 10 of those student athletes graduated, Coach Switzer counts on returning starters as strength for this season.

“Most of the team is returning from last season,” said Switzer. “I have 10 of 14 starters back.”

Among the top returning athletes for Switzer is Ty Harter, who was a District Qualifier and was third in the ECC. Brett Hogan was ECC champion, Jarod Mendoza was third league and Sawyer Bowin was third league along with being a District Qualifier. Senior Jarod Mendoza is looking to reach a major milestone this season as he is just 30 wins from joining the 100 Win Club.

Coach Switzer is looking for continued improvement “week in and week out” to define success for the Tiger Wrestling Team in 2020-2021. Wrestling Season is set to open for the Tigers at Harrison, Saturday, November 23.
