People want to help. As Greater Cincinnati mobilizes to respond to COVID-19 on many fronts, the top question we have received is: “How can I help?”

CINCINNATI, OH March 20, 2020) — In times of crisis, UC Health is on the front lines for our community.

As Greater Cincinnati mobilizes to respond to COVID-19 on many fronts, the top question we have received is: “How can I help?”

UC Health is providing three specific ways community members can take action to help Keep Cincinnati Close: sending notes and support to residents of nursing homes across our community; showing support for medical professionals and first responders with a “Strength in Unity” t-shirt; and supporting the operations of the region’s academic health system.

“We are proud to lead the way in supporting those who are on the front lines caring for others: especially our medical professionals like doctors and nurses, the police, fire/EMS and so many others,” said UC Health President & CEO Richard P. Lofgren, MD. “This is a time for our city and our community to come together to support and help each other.”

ONE  |  Send letters, cards and drawings to residents at our city’s assisted living and nursing facilities.

Social distancing does not have to mean loneliness. We are asking Cincinnati to Keep Cincinnati Close by writing a letter, a note, a poem – whatever moves you – to send to our residents at Bridgeway Pointe, or at any of the participating residences listed who have restricted visitation access during this time. Staff will deliver these notes to residents accordingly.

We have partnered with six area nursing homes, assisted living facilities and/or post-acute care facilities to help support their residents during this time. We are accepting other partners; please email media@uchealth.com.

THREE  |  Purchase a “Strength in Unity” Shirt at Cincy Shirts

UC Health and Cincy Shirts have partnered together to create a new t-shirt called “Strength in Unity”. This title was inspired by the City of Cincinnati’s motto, “Juncta Juvant”, which is found on the city’s seal and flag. It is also found on the seal of the University of Cincinnati.

Portions of these t-shirt sale proceeds will benefit the YMCA of Cincinnati Emergency Response Fund. This fund has been set up to provide financial support for day camps for children of healthcare providers in our community, so they can continue to care for others.
