LOVELAND, OH (August 24, 2020) – St. Columban Catholic School faculty, staff and administration welcomed the kids back to school today.

St. Columban School Principal Jo Rhoten was there to welcome the kids as they arrived on busses in the morning. St. Columban Church Pastor, Rev. Larry Tensi was there to greet the kids as they arrived – just like he does every morning throughout the school year. Loveland Police officer Steiny, the school resource officer was right there to say hi to the kids too. The protective face masks could not hide the joy on their faces.

“It’s been great,” said one St. Columban teacher midway through the day. “We’re singing and dancing.”

If you didn’t know better, or see the facial masks and spacing, you would have thought it was the normal celebration of the first day of school. In many ways it was. Credit goes to all the staff, teachers, parents, administrators and even students for preparing to make the best of a challenging situation. Rhoten knows challenges remain, but the enthusiasm of the first day, and all the preparation they put into it,  helped get them off on the right foot.

“The morning went smooth,” said Rhoten. “Lunch went smooth. Everybody has done a great job. The kids are excited to be back. We’re excited to be back.”
