FUN WITH MAPS – ISSUE 2022-149 DAILY FEATURE:

By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)

LOVELAND, OH (August 23, 2022) – In Issue 2022-149 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, today we honor the kids playing a kids game – our National Pastime!

LITTLE LEAGUE

Today is the 75th anniversary of the first Little League World Series.

The championship game is held in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The games are for boys, and girls now as well, aged typically 10-12.

While originally only US teams competed, it has taken on an international flare.  In fact, Tokyo-Kitasuna Little League team won the most titles at four.  The 2021 champion hails from Michigan – Taylor North Little League.  PLAY BALL!

Matthews created this map of Pennsylvania in 1886.
