FUN WITH MAPS – ISSUE 2021-40 DAILY FEATURE:
By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)
LOVELAND, OH (March 2, 2021) – In Issue 2021-40 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we look into the mountains for a possible eruption.
Majestic
Seeing the sun rise over this snow-capped stratovolcano is truly majestic. If you have not experienced this while visiting the area, I would highly recommend you work an early morning stop near this mountain into your schedule.
It is Mount Rainer, situated in the Cascades Range, located just over 50 miles from Seattle.
It was established as a National Park in 1899 on this day.
Mount Rainer is due for an eruption, although one would expect plenty of warning signs well in advance.
Here is a Rand McNally Map of Washington state from 1911.
