LOVELAND, OH (February 3, 2021) – In Issue 2021-22 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we say Bye-Bye to music legends.

The Day the Music Died

Heading from Clear Lake, Iowa to Morehead, Minnesota the plane crashed on this day in 1959.  The pilot and his three passengers were killed.

The passengers were Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper. 

 

Rock ‘n Roll legends.

Things were different then.  Rock was just starting and even the legends played to smaller audiences.  Money was tight.

Don Mclean wrote a little tune inspired by this event, as you might know.  American Pie.
