Get a Free “LOVE THY NEIGHBOR” T-Shirt from Hoxworth Blood Centers
NEWS RELEASE: Cara Nicolas, Associate Director, Public Relations
CINCINNATI, OH (July 7, 2020) – Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is inviting blood donors to show their support for their neighbors this summer with a blood donation (and get a free t-shirt to show for it).
Blood donors receive this T-Shirt FREE when they donate between now and July 13, at Hoxworth Blood Donor Centers (Provided)
Between now and July 13th, individuals who donate blood or platelets at one of Hoxworth’s seven Neighborhood Donor Centers will receive an exclusive “Love Thy Neighbor, Donate Blood” t-shirt.
“We’ve seen these words ‘Love Thy Neighbor’ in action more times than we can count throughout the COVID-19 crisis, as our community has rallied around patients and healthcare heroes alike,” said Alecia Lipton, Director of Public Relations for Hoxworth Blood Center. “Blood donors in particular have come out in droves in recent months to lend a hand to our cause and save lives. Now, we welcome eligible donors to roll up a sleeve and get a t-shirt to show to the world how they’ve supported our community.”
Lipton says blood usage has increased dramatically in recent weeks as hospitals are performing surgeries that were postponed at the start of the COVID-19 crisis. According to Lipton, Hoxworth needs at least 400 donors every day to maintain a stable inventory of blood and platelet products for over 30 area hospitals.
Blood donation continues to be a safe and sterile process, according to Hoxworth officials. The blood center is taking the safety of donors very seriously during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Appointments are highly encouraged at this time in an effort to control the flow of donors and maintain social distancing protocol.
Masks are required by donors at all Hoxworth locations and blood drives. To schedule a donation, call (513) 451-0910 or visit www.hoxworth.org.
