Orlando Sonza breaks down the ballot language on Loveland Beacon Talks

LOVELAND, OH (October 27, 2023) – Welcome to another special edition of Loveland Beacon Talks with guest Orlando Sonza, candidate for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District and member of the Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee talking about the facts of Ohio Issue .

Early voting is well underway and with less than two weeks before Election Day Tuesday, November 7th, there remains great debate on Ohio’s Issue 1 – the proposed Constitutional Amendment referred to as “reproductive rights”. A majority yes vote would make this “reproductive rights” amendment a part of the Constitution of the State of Ohio.
The first fact is: there is no law in the Constitution of the State of Ohio which limits reproduction rights of any individual. This proposed amendment would be the first to address the reproductive rights of any individual Ohio citizen.

In its simplest form, the debate on this proposed amendment centers on the right of an individual to abort an unborn child at “any stage of pregnancy regardless of viability” prohibiting the State from “directly or indirectly burdening, penalizing or prohibiting abortion”. It gives the pregnant woman’s physician the authority to determine viability of the child, and whether abortion is necessary –even up to the point of a full-term delivery, thus protecting the physician from any penalty.
