LOVELAND, OH (May 3, 2024) – Cappies nominations in 14 categories is sweet reward for the Loveland High School Drama cast and crew of the fall production of Something Rotten.

Congratulations and good luck (or do we still say break-a-leg) to all those nominated and all who made Something Rotten so sweet for LHS Drama and their audience. Now, in her own words, here is the announcement from Something Rotten producer Theresa Kovacs:

Apparently the Loveland High School production of the new musical Something Rotten was anything but.  At least according to the Greater Cincinnati Cappies critics.

The school’s November production was chosen to compete with other local schools for Cappies Awards, what we like to call the local high school theater Academy Awards.  The participating schools have critic teams that watch each others’ shows, write reviews, and choose the best to be nominated for Awards at a glitzy end-of-the-year gala at the Aronoff.

This year, Loveland has been nominated in 14 categories and will be performing “A Musical” from Something Rotten! during the gala.  The gala date is May 22nd, so stay tuned for the award results.

Here arE your Loveland Cappies nominees:

  • Sound – Luke Jacons, Aidan Jody, and William Gehring
  • Lighting – Eleanor Klein, Jay Matusak, Izzy Bisogni, and Evelyn Hooper
  • Props – Audrey Smith, Isaac Endress, and Madelyn George
  • Ensemble in a Musical – The Bottom Brothers’ Troupe consisting of Marcel Mangan, Logan Denney, Camdyn Drohan, Aaron Frazier, Ian Parrish, and Bo Zierden
  • Featured Actor in a Male Role in a Musical – Sam Alarcon as Brother Jeremiah
  • Dancer in a Female Role – Sophia Herbon
  • Dancer in a Male Role – Will Day
  • Comic Actor in a Female Role in a Musical – Tabitha Johnson as Shylock
  • Comic Actor in a Male Role in a Musical – Paul Laufersweiler as Will Shakespeare
  • Supporting Actor in a Female Role in a Musical – Liv Bast as Portia
  • Supporting Actor in a Male Role in a Musical – Liam McCracken as Nigel Bottom
  • Lead Actor in a Male Role in a  Musical – Ethan Shepherd as Nick Bottom
  • Song – “A Musical”

Additionally, four students are recognized as commendees whose talents added greatly to the success of the show – Seniors Sophie Eilert, Riley Loomis, Marcel Mangan, and Ava VanBuskirk.
