It is the week for Opening Day here in Cincinnati and Loveland. The Reds hold their traditional Opening Day for the Major League Baseball 2023 Season Thursday, March 30, at the Great American Ball Park (GABP). Self Care Counseling is following that up with an Opening Day of their own Friday, March 31, from 3-6 p.m. in the new Loveland location at 422 W. Loveland Avenue. Owner partner Jason Chandler is excited about the new location and staff expansion ready to serve the community.

“It’s kind of meet our team, most of our staff will be here, see our space and talk to us about what we can offer the community,” said Chandler, talking about the “open house” style opening taking place Friday. “We’re really excited to be coming to Loveland. We’ve found a lot of support here.”

Chandler says one of the most important things they’ll be offering is group sessions covering a wide variety of topics. Included in the range of group session topics will be addiction, anxiety, depression and even back-to-school meeting.

“Our mission is clients first, Chandler said. “We try to take a little different approach. I know sometimes insurance dictates what we can and can’t do but our clients are put above everything. Everything we do is for them.”

The business of Self Care – Counseling owned by Stump and Chandler is not new. They actually started the partnership in another office together before expanding and moving the practice here to Loveland.

“Darsey and I started sharing an office in Blue Ash,” Chandler explained. “We expanded last year and hired on just a couple counselors. This year we’ve really taken a little bit bigger leap. There’s eleven counselors on our staff right now and a couple admin office staff.”

The new space at 422 W. Loveland Avenue in Loveland (Some may recognize as the former offices of Recruit Military) allows them the ability to spread out and grow a little. Chandler hopes that translates to “offer more to the community”.  What they’ll be offering to the community is counseling and therapy services with an emphasis on the self care; just like the routine everyday things we do to care for our health and well-being.

“We serve everyone, all inclusive,” said Chandler. “We want people to think of counseling and therapy like you do every other self care; get your nails done, get a massage, play a round of golf it’s essential.”

The staff includes therapists who specialize in different areas. Among those Chandler cited aloud was: kids, couples, lgbt, moms working with postpartum. He says they have therapists who specialize in a lot of different areas and can accommodate “most everyone’.

“That’s why we chose to make it Self Care Counseling,” Chandler said. “It is so important to have that outlet to process life for everybody.”
