tornado safe rooms in your home

COLUMBUS/LOVELAND, OH (January 12, 2022) – State Representative Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) this week announced the Ohio Safe Room Rebate Program is now accepting applications. The program provides a rebate to Ohio Homeowners for the purchase and installation of tornado safe rooms.

The Ohio Safe Room Rebate Program was developed by the Ohio Emergency Management Agency. The program is a “rebate” program, meaning only after the installation, construction and payment of a safe room will selected and qualified applicants be reimbursed for eligible costs.

“The safety and protection of Ohio families is my top priority as a legislator,” said Schmidt. “I encourage everyone who is able to consider installing a safe room in your home.”

Homeowners that are selected for the program are eligible for a rebate of 75% of the cost to purchase, install and/or construct a safe room up to a maximum of $4,875. Homeowners that have been selected must also be able to attend a mandatory “Safe Room Briefing” meeting to be eligible for the rebate.

The Safe Room Rebate Program is open now until February 4, 2022.
