Santa

Do you believe in Santa Claus?  That was an important question for children visiting Santa Claus Land in southern Indiana.  Maybe believing was even required for entry…

Santa Claus Land became the world’s first themed amusement park when it opened in 1946 on this day.  The park was renamed in 1984 to Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari, which isn’t quite that catchy of a name .  .  .

The adjacent town of Santa Claus, Indiana was established in 1856. It is the only town in the world bearing the name of that jolly good fellow.  Ho-ho-ho.

Have you ever visited Santa Claus Land?

This Mitchell map of Indiana is from 1894.
