returns June 11

LOVELAND, OH (May 19, 2022) – It’s Back! The St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) Run for the Poor 5K returns on Saturday morning, June 11.
Gone for two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SVDP RFP 5K run/walk is not just coming back; it is coming back with new and exciting additions. St. Vincent de Paul volunteer organizers have been chomping at the bit to get this popular 5K back on the race card to help raise funds to support neighbors in need throughout the community.
Yes, the 28th annual SVDP 5K Run & Fitness Walk still starts and finishes at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church (SEAS) located at 5890 Buckwheat Rd. in Milford, Ohio. It is a fully sanctioned 5K course which leaves the parking lot of SEAS winds through a nicely shaded neighborhood before following the scenic trail around Miami Meadows Park and returning to the SEAS finish line through the quiet neighborhood community adjacent to the church grounds. As always the start time is 9:00 a.m. After your finish, the real fun begins with refreshments and the announcement of awards for the participants, both runners and walkers. It’s kind of like an after-party with plenty of door-prizes awarded to participants as well.
Jerry Nieb is the official chairman for the 2022 St. Vincent de Paul Run for the Poor. He is most excited to share some of the new additions for the event this year.
“A special and spectacular addition to this year’s Run for the Poor will be a formation flyover at the start of the Run by a squadron of WWII-era fighter planes, performed by the Clermont Warbirds – weather permitting,” said Nieb. “This demonstration alone will be worth the price of the registration. Please tell all your friends.”
NOTE: Jerry Nieb talked about the Flyover during an April interview on radio. (You can listen to that interview in the show’s archives: https://sacredheartradio.com/listen/driving-home-faith scroll down to the 4.28.2022 and advance the player to 1hr:08m into the Show).

Nieb says register now and “Make it a family event” with pre-race registration going on now – $20 for adults, $10 for children 18 and under. T-shirts are $12. Remember, all proceeds benefit the St. Vincent De Paul Society for the purpose of helping local neighbors in need with food, clothing, housing and utilities. “After 30 years, we are still trying to get more in tune with the 21st century, and do some of our communications and promotions on-line,” Nieb said. “As part of that effort, we’ve created a website at: www.runforthepoor.org. Please take a look at our site when you have a chance. If you like what you see, we would also appreciate if you could share the link to our site with all your on-line friends.”
They also offer race day registration – $25 for adults, $15 for children 18 and under, $15 for T-shirts (while supplies last). Nieb says there is yet another new addition for the Run for the Poor this year. You can become a fundraiser by setting up a fundraising team allowing others to register for the Run/Walk as part of your team.

“I encourage you to click on the “Become a Fundraiser” button,” said Nieb. “That’ll take you to the page where you can set up a fundraising team. The largest fundraising team will be awarded our biggest and best door prize this year – around of golf for 4 with cart, valued at over $300.”
