Touchdown!

Happy 100th birthday NFL!

Representatives from four Ohio football teams met 100 years ago today in an auto showroom in Canton, Ohio.  They managed to form a league called American Professional Football Conference.  The four teams hailed from Canton, Akron, Dayton and Cleveland.

By the end of 1920 the league expanded to fourteen teams.  The league was renamed to National Football League two years later.  And the rest is history.

Can you name the 32 NFL teams currently hoping to play ball in the fall?

In the early years football teams tended to travel by train.  To honor that, here is an Ohio Railway System map from 1912 issued by the State.
