ABOUT THE PLAY:
“The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People” is a play by Oscar Wilde. First performed in 1895 at the St. James Theater in London, it is a farcical comedy in which the protagonists maintain fictitious personae to escape burdensome social obligations.
In the currently airing ACT I, Earnest and Algernon discuss life, love and cucumber sandwiches. Earnest courts Gwendolen, but her protective mother, Lady Bracknell, has other ideas.
