FUN WITH MAPS – ISSUE 2022-066 DAILY FEATURE:

By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)

LOVELAND, OH (April 05, 2022) – In Issue 2022-066 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we dig into the depths of a pizza pie.

Pizza – skinny and plus size

Mamma Mia, that is a deep pizza!  Today is National Deep Dish Pizza Day!  Invented by Pizzeria Uno in Chicago in 1943, deep dish pizza has a much thicker crust than its original relative.

The term “Pizza” first appeared in a Latin text over 1000 years ago in Italy.  Modern pizza, the skinny type, first made its appearance in Naples.

While Italy is the true home of pizza, it has gained global acceptance and is a standard staple in many nations.  The global sales of pizzas in restaurants are $130 billion, with the US accounting for 34% of global sales across 76,000 restaurants.
