May 4th Work Session cancelled

LOVELAND, OH (May 3, 2023) – In a notice sent out early Wednesday morning, thye Loveland City School District (LCSD)  announced the cancellation of the May 4th Board meeting.

Here is the text of the notification message sent out from the office of Robert Giuffre, LCSD treasurer:

The Loveland City School District Board meeting Work Session scheduled for Thursday, May 4th, 2023 has been cancelled.

The next regular session of the Board of Education is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, in the Loveland Middle/Intermediate School Media Center at 757 S. Lebanon Rd.

No reason for the cancellation was included in the notification. In light of the successful passage of the school tax levy on Tuesday, May 2, it is most likely the work session was deemed unnecessary by the LCSD board. With a levy fail, the board would  have had urgent need to address school finance issues.

Again, the Loveland School levy passed with 56% of the slightly over 10,000 ballots cast FOR the levy; while just 44% cast ballots AGAINST the levy. The passage of this 4.9 mill operating levy breaks a streak of three consecutive levy request failures at the polls for LCSD.

Loveland Beacon will have more reaction to the passage of the levy in coming editions on LovelandBeacon.com
