Blood, plasma and platelet donors can roll up a sleeve at one of seven Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Centers during the promotion. All donors will receive a special “There’s No Place Like HOME” t-shirt featuring the Cincinnati Reds logo.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically altered our way of life, and unfortunately our city’s celebration of baseball season,” said Alecia Lipton, Director of Public Relations for Hoxworth Blood Center. “But even though the Cincinnati Reds’ season looks different this year, we’re proud to be able to partner with our hometown team and collect much-needed blood products for our area hospitals.”
With hospitals re-scheduling elective surgeries that were put on hold in April and May, the need for blood has increased dramatically in recent weeks, said Lipton.
“The need for blood doesn’t pause during a pandemic, unfortunately,” she said. “That is why we are urging area donors to visit their Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Center and give blood during this time of uncertainty.”
Appointments for blood donation are required at this time to manage donor flow and adhere to social distancing protocols. Donors can schedule appointments by calling (513) 451-0910 or by scheduling online at www.hoxworth.org/groups/reds.
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati was founded in 1938 and serves over 30 hospitals and medical facilities in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Hoxworth collects blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. Hoxworth Blood Center. All Types Welcome.
