19 Signed to become college athletes

LOVELAND, OH (December 10, 2024) – Archbishop Moeller High School recently celebrated student athletes signing day with 19 young athletes making the commitment to continue their sports career during college.

On December 4, 2024, nineteen Archbishop Moeller High School student athletes signed a commitment to play sports at the college level.

Meet the athletes:

Jake Bell of Mount Washington is heading to Bellarmine University to play baseball. He was part of the Moeller GCL champions baseball and basketball teams each year. 

Jake’s stats this past spring include a triple, 4 runs scored, 3 RBI, and 3 stolen bases when joining the team after basketball season. He received first honors every quarter, is an AP Scholar with Honors, a member of the National Honor Society, has a 4.68 GPA, participates in Little Buddies, and has over 150 community service hours.

  • Griffin Booth of Goshen will be playing baseball at La Salle University. His stats this season include 13 hits, 2 doubles, 8 runs scored, and 11 RBIs as the starting catcher.
  • Carter Christenson of Cincinnati is heading to The Ohio State University to play baseball. His sophomore season stats on the state champion team include hitting .300, with two doubles, one triple, one home run, 14 runs scored, and 14 RBIs. Carter’s junior year stats include hitting .346, with two doubles, three triples, one home run, 29 runs scored, 18 RBI, and 22 stolen bases.
  • Matt Fogler of Mason will be playing football at Colgate University. He was named to the first team All- GCL and holds the single season touchdown record with 15. Matt is a varsity letterman on the indoor/outdoor track & field team, is All-State in the 4x400M Relay, and the school record holder for the 4x400M Relay.
  • Brady Franz of Loveland is heading to Coker College. A varsity letterman his junior year, he played in 23 games and averaged 3.2 ppg. Brady finished the season with 33 rebounds, 7 steals, and was an 87% free throw shooter.
  • Paxton Hafner of Cincinnati signed to play soccer at Carnegie Mellon University. He played in 46 games the past three years, with 10 goals scored, 6 assists, and 26 points.
  • Landon Harris of Loveland is heading to Wright State University to play golf. He was a member of the 2024 state-qualifying team which finished 9th in the state. Landon is tied for the school record with the lowest overall average score of 73.8.
  • Jonah Hayes of Loveland will be playing football at Northwestern University. He was named to the first team All-GCL, played and started in every game, with 65 tackles (32 solo/33 assist), 13 tackles for loss (51 yards lost), 6 sacks (28 yards lost), and one blocked punt.
  • Hunter Hemphill of Loveland signed to play lacrosse at Maryville University. He received first and second honors, is a member of S.O.U.L., and has a 3.96 GPA.

  • Ryder Hicks of Montgomery will be swimming at the University of Louisville. He was named NISCA All- American, holds the school record in the 100M breaststroke, and finished fourth in state in the 200IM and 7th in the state in the 100M breaststroke.
  • Kingston Land of Mason is heading to Indiana State University to play basketball. He has posted a career average of 5.6 points per game, accumulating 38 blocks, 135 rebounds, and 29 assists.
  • Finn O’Keefe of Loveland will be playing baseball at Thomas More University. He pitched in 5 games this past spring, going 1-0, throwing 6.1 innings, and striking out 6 batters.
  • Logan Rosenberger of Milford signed to play baseball at Defiance College. He received first and second honors, has a 3.67 GPA, and is a member of the Moeller bowling team.
  • Will Schirmer of Mason signed to play baseball with Ohio Dominican University. His stats include batting .286, with 7 runs scored, 3 RBI, and 6 stolen bases. Will received first honors, participates in Little Buddies and C40M, and has a 4.5 GPA.
  • Justin Sonny of Blanchester will be playing lacrosse at Ohio Northern University. He has a 3.76 GPA. Justin has worked with The Green Beret Foundation for three years, volunteering with youth lacrosse and sports camps, and serves with the Do It For Jack Foundation.
  • Zion Theophilus of Anderson is heading to Louisiana State University to play baseball. He pitched 4 games his freshman year, threw 8.1 innings, went 1-0 with a save, and struck out 15 batters. During Zion’s sophomore year on the state champion team, he went 7-0 with one save over 51 innings, allowing just 35 hits, striking out 61 batters, and an ERA of 1.36. As a junior, he went 10-1 in 55 innings, allowing just 36 hits while striking out 86 batters and recording a 1.15 ERA.
  • Charlie Valencic of Indian Hill signed to play baseball at Radford University. His stats include hitting .255, with two doubles, three triples, 26 runs scored, 15 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases. Charlie received first and second honors, participated with Little Buddies, has a 4.09 GPA, and was named to the first team All-GCL.
  • Max Warnecke of Maineville is heading to Ohio Northern University to play lacrosse. He was on the honor roll, on the S.O.U.L. travel team, and has a 3.4 GPA.
  • Joey Watts of Cincinnati will be playing baseball at Wabash Valley College. He pitched in 5 games this past spring, going 1-0, throwing 4.1 innings with 8 strikeouts.

Archbishop Moeller is an all-male Catholic high school (grades 9-12) located in the northeastern suburbs of Cincinnati, OH. Founded by the Marianist order of priests and brothers, Moeller opened in September of 1960 and continues to be the leader in educating young men.
