Waddell is entering his third season as a professional baseball player with the Atlanta Braves organization. After being drafted in summer of 2021, he played most of his first minor league season with the Rome Braves in Georgia before being promoted to the Double-A Mississippi Braves for the close of the season. He started 2022 with the AA Mississippi Braves and enjoyed early success before an injury sidelined him at the start of June cutting short his season.
Despite playing in only 41 games and spending the late summer of 2022 rehabbing in Florida, Luke made a strong enough impression on the Braves brass to earn the invitation to Major League camp for spring training 2023. He is there now.
Listen to what Luke had to say in a close to 15 minute interview with Loveland Beacon earlier this week. Thanks to Luke for taking the time to talk. Special thanks to his Mom, Lisa Waddell for providing several photos of Luke with the Mississippi Braves.
