Kathy Bailey reappointed to Mayor with Ted Phelps appointed Vice-Mayor during Monday evening ceremony

LOVELAND, OH (December 9, 2021) – On November 2, 2021, Loveland voters elected John Hart and Kip Ping as new members of Loveland City Council along with re-electing council members Tim Butler and Ted Phelps filling four open seats on council.

All four were sworn in during an organizational meeting held Monday, December 6, for the specific purpose of swearing in the members for the next term. Additionally, the purpose of the Loveland City Council meeting was to appoint the Mayor and Vice-Mayor.

Once Hart, Ping, Butler and Phelps were sworn in as new council members, nominations for Mayor and Vice-Mayor were voted upon. Current Mayor Kathy Bailey was reappointed to hold the Mayor’s seat for two more years. Ted Phelps was appointed to the position of Vice-Mayor for a two-year term as well.

Loveland City Council elections are held every two years and rotate between three and four seats. Under the Home Rule Charter adopted in 1961, the city is administered by a council/manager form of government with seven council members elected at large on a non-partisan basis for four-year terms.
