In the notification delivered to LCSD families via email Friday afternoon, the district announced all Loveland School buildings will be closed Friday, February 12, to accomodate the opportunity for the first round COVID-19 vaccination. Loveland High School will serve as the vaccination site for LCSD staff and teachers as well as some staff from surrounding school districts according to the information released by the district.

While the school buidlings will be closed, students will participate in “asynchronous learning” – meaning they will recieve assignments to complete that day and teachers ill be available to assist students during normal school hours through email.

The COVID-19 vaccinations currently being administered requrie two doses. This means a second day of asynchronous learning will be scheduled to accomodate administering of the second dose. That is likely to happen in three to four weeks. Loveland school officials indicated they will notify students and families of that specific date as soon as they know when it will be.

Loveland school officials also expressed gratititude for the opportunity to partner with Kroger for this vaccination opportunity. Being able to administer vaccinations to staff and teachers on a Friday also allows for minimal disruption of teaching/learning if any staff or teachers have reactions which could cause absences.

Additionally, Loveland Schools are closed on Monday, February 15, in observance of President’s Day. With the vaccination clinic set for Friday, this creates a four-day window to help minimize any potetial lost learning time for staff, teachers or students. The students will return Tuesday, February 16.
