Drew Plitt, Bengals P-Squad QB

on Loveland Beacon Talks

LOVELAND, OH (December 11, 2023) – When Bengal quarterback Joe Burrow was injured, Loveland native Drew Plitt was signed as the practice squad (P-squad) QB. When Jake Browning seemed injured during Sunday’s game against the Indy Colts, Plitt was suddenly just one snap away from playing quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals in a regular season NFL football game.

Drew Plitt visited on Loveland Beacon Talks-Special Sports Edition to share his experience as a P-squad QB for the Bengals.

Most of us here in Loveland remember Drew Plitt helping to lead the Loveland Tigers to their first Ohio High School football championship. Since then, he had an exceptional college career leading the Ball State Cardinals to a MAC Conference Championship and Bowl appearance. From there he moved on to the ranks of professional football; first with his hometown Cincinnati Bengals during 2022 training camp where he led the team on a 75 yard touchdown including throwing his first NFL TD pass in that preseason game.

Though he was waived by the Bengals then, he moved on to sign with the Arlington Renegades of the XFL where he played the 2023 XFL season until a knee injury sidelined him in April. Following injury rehabilitation, Plitt continued working out for the opportunity to continue his professional football career. When Joe Burrow went down with a season-ending wrist injury, the Bengals called again. Drew Plitt answered the call and currently serves as the Bengals #3 quarterback practicing with the team every day wearing the #7 jersey and ready for the call just a snap away.
