LOVELAND, OH (May 24, 2022) – The Memorial Day weekend kick off for summer is just days away with the City of Loveland’s annual Memorial Day Parade and Veterans Memorial ceremony set to take place on Memorial Day this Monday, May 30.
The day will feature the parade beginning at 9 a.m. at the Loveland Elementary School (LES), located at 600 Loveland-Madeira Road, and proceed from there down West Loveland Avenue to the Loveland Veterans Memorial. Time is running out, but the city is still accepting registration for individuals and organizations who would like participate in the parade. CLICK HERE to register for the parade. Senator Terry Johnson will be the featured speaker at the special Memorial Day ceremony at the Loveland Veterans Memorial immediately following the parade. The Veterans Memorial is located at the intersection of West Loveland Avenue and Riverside Drive – just across the corner from Schutte Cleaners. Senator Johnson is a retired physician, medical educator and retired military officer. He was commissioned into the Ohio Army National Guard while a fourth-year medical student, achieved the rank of Colonel in the space of just 12 years. Dr. Johnson was the first Ohio Army National Guard State Aviation Medical Officer. He served as a senior flight surgeon, was deployed overseas multiple times. Those deployments included serving two tours in Iraq and one posting in Kuwait.
Senator Johnson earned the highest possible position for a Medical Corps officer serving as the Army Guard’s State Surgeon – the position he held at the time he ended his military career in 2011. He currently serves on the Ohio Senate District 14 representing Adams, Brown, Clermont, Lawrence and Scioto Counties.
