LOVELAND, OH (June 7, 2024) – Nominated 14 times, Loveland High School (LHS) actors took top honors three times at the annual Cappies of Greater Cincinnati Gala

Loveland nominees and winners were chosen from the Loveland High School fall production of Something Rotten! Cappies critics review the submissions and make their nominations. Nominations for outstanding work in technical and performance categories were announced by the Cappies critics during May with Loveland receiving 14 overall nominations. From those 14, three actors were chosen as top award winners. If I may, “The envelope please…”

The award winners from LHS Drama are:

  • Sam Alarcon for Featured Actor in a Male Role – Musical for his performance.
  • Paul Laufersweiler for Comic Actor in a Male Role – Musical for his performance.
  • Liam McCracken for Supporting Actor in a Male Role – Musical for his performance.

The annual end-of-year celebration gala took place at the Aronoff Center for the Arts on May 22nd. It was a night of shining the light on the performing arts bringing together area high school students to celebrate the theatrical productions of their school along with the critics who reviewed them and the support, the work and love that goes into providing these programs for them.

It is worth noting the Cappies Gala celebration is quite a production in, and of itself with performances by several of the high school students during the gala. The LHS cast of Something Rotten! Performed their nominated song: “A Musical” for the audience.

A strong round of applause – maybe even a standing ovation – should be offered to all the LHS performers, technical support, and families as congratulations for a job very well done. Additionally, we would be remiss here on Loveland Beacon if we failed to note the efforts of Loveland High School’s very own Theresa Kovacs for her role in producing the Cappies Gala.

Again, congratulations to all.
