It started with an ‘Idea’

GUEST COLUMN: By David Terry, Owner RP Diamond

LOVELAND, OH (April 21, 2020) – On April 11, 2020 Trustee Mike Goode sent out a message on the Loveland Eagles group member’s FB page. It simply started with “Had an idea”

Mike was looking for a way to continue what the Eagles always do…help others – especially in this time of need. His message continued “do we start a Go Fund Me Page or take donations mailed in to us for organizations affected by this COVID-19? Maybe the foodbank or one of our charities that is in need now”?

I suggested The LIFE Food Pantry and offered up our store (RP Diamond)  as the collection point. Several other members liked the idea so we moved forward. The Weekly Primary Needs list located on the Pantry’s web site was distributed and the donations started rolling in. Curbside service. Just pull up to the door, honk your horn and we would come out and pick up.

The Eagles started collecting donations on April 13, 2020 until April 18, 2020. As you can see by the pictures, we had an awesome response from the great membership at the Eagles.

In all, we collected $440 in cash/checks and what I would estimate around $1,200-$1,500 dollars in groceries.

Mike Goode and I delivered the cash/checks and groceries on April 20, 2020 to some very thankful folks at the Pantry. They knew we were coming but I think they were a little overwhelmed at the amount the Loveland Eagles delivered.

Simply put…The Fraternal Order of Eagles – “People Helping People”.
